Sanctions General Import Licence (SGIL) for Reusable Packaging of Russian Origin

Following the previous Government announcements regarding the implementation of sanction measures against Russian origin iron and steel, including products processed in a third country, HMRC have published information on introduction of Sanctions General Import Licence (SGIL) that permits the import of reusable packaging of Russian origin.

The published guidance provides information on:

  • Criteria’s to use the SGIL licence
  • Affected commodity code
  • Instructions on use of oral declaration, declaration by conduct or full electronic import declaration
  • Simplified Customs Declaration Process (SCDP) and Temporary Admission (TA) Information
