Making sure your rest of the world to Northern Ireland declarations are successfully submitted on the Customs Declaration Service

If you use preference, valuation methods 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6, or authorised-use relief arrangements, there are steps you may need to take to ensure your declaration is accepted.

This letter is confirmation that this contingency will end, as planned, on 31 October and from 1 November these movements must be declared on the Customs Declaration Service (CDS), the UK’s future single customs platform.

The Border Operating Model - Mark 3

When the Government in March this year announced a deferral to implementing stages 2 and 3 of the Border Operating Model (BOM) leading to the UK implementing full border controls, it failed to update the BOM. This document has now been updated including the new timeframes and information regarding new systems and the procedures required to make these work. In addition, there are case studies covering the import and export of goods , including goods subject to additional control.

It is expected that importers will make sure haulage companies are moving their goods compliantly in future and HMRC will monitor this to identify and address repeated non-compliance.
