In this session we will hear from David Cross, who has worked in the rail freight sector for over 30 years, mainly for DB Cargo UK and is now a consultant within the rail sector.

David will talk about how rail freight works within the UK to and from deep-sea and short-sea ports to inland freight terminals such as Hams Hall, Trafford Park and Scotland.

He will also cover how freight moves from Europe via the Channel Tunnel and touch on services from China.

Finally, with a big focus on the reduction of CO² emissions from supply-chain, he will explain the benefits by combining modes of transport can help in this important area.
