SCAM REMINDER
AN old scam is doing the rounds again.
There are variations but the most recent one reported to the BIFA Secretariat was where a quotation was prepaid.
Subsequently, no shipment materialised and the scammer asked for a repayment.
Following repayment the bank informed the forwarder that the original payment was void.
A false payment or overpayment are the most common variations.
Also the repayment bank account is different from the original payment.
