Safety and Security risk assessments after Brexit Transition for indirect exports to rest of the world

Carriers to submit safety and security declarations for air and maritime shipments arriving in the UK, after the UK leaves the EU.

From 1 January 2021 carriers will need to submit Safety & Security GB declarations for Import shipments from the Rest of the World, with goods of EU origin starting 1 July 2021. It should be remembered that if the carrying aircraft or vessel arrives at an EU (air)port first, the Safety and Security declaration has already been submitted to Customs in the country of first arrival.

Also, carriers will need to submit an EU Advance Manifest (ICS) declaration for UK export shipments destined to the EU, tranship at a EU (air)port or remains on board a vessel which calls in the EU before being despatched to a rest of the world destination.

It is recommended that freight forwarders discuss with air and maritime carriers to determine if they are aware of these requirements and able to comply.
