Get a coronavirus (COVID-19) test if you’re an HGV or van driver
The Government has announced from 6th April that it will be mandatory, subject to the relevant criteria, that all hauliers arriving in England from abroad will need to take a COVID-19 test if they are staying for more than 48 hours.
Drivers will need to take the first test within the first 2 days. The driver must take a second test 3 days after their first test and the third test 3 days after their second test.
The driver does not need to take a test if they arrive in England from Ireland, the Channel Islands, or the Isle of Man - known as the Common Travel Area (CTA). However, they must have only been in the CTA or the UK in the 10 days before arrival.
If the driver has been outside of the CTA in the 10 days before arriving in England, a test must be taken.
