Consultation on Imperial Measures
The Government has published a consultation on the use of imperial measures as well as business guidance for using a crown symbol on pint glasses. After discussion with the relevant Government Department, it has been confirmed that this consultation is limited to consumer transactions based on measurement. So, in many cases it is not relevant to BIFA Members whose relationships are often business to business.
However, such legislation often has unforeseen impacts – and we are aware that many Members for instance undertake “fast parcel” activities directly with private individuals and this consultation could have an impact on this sector. Also your customer may buy a product in a metric measurement and there are the impacts of converting these into imperial units to consider.
If you feel that you are impacted by this consultation here is a link to the consultation entitled ‘Choice on units of measurement: markings and sales’.
The consultation closes at 11pm on 26 August 2022.
