CO – Cargo Operative (Regulated Agent)

The BIFA suite of Air Cargo Security courses complies with the UK Department for Transport (DfT) Mandatory Conditions & Syllabus and is delivered by approved trainers. Online courses are suitable for personnel employed by Regulated Agents and 3rd party hauliers/contractors.

The Cargo Operative (CO) course is for those working in the warehouse and handling secure cargo (but not screening cargo). The CO course replaces the old Level D course. Drivers who also handle cargo and carry out any warehouse tasks should also attend the CO course.
CO covers the following modules (as appropriate):
- The threat to aviation
- Aviation Security – Organisation and legislation
- Protecting air cargo – warehouse
- Protecting air cargo – drivers
- Protecting & searching aircraft – NOT DELIVERED BY BIFA
- Reacting to and reporting of suspicious circumstances & security incidents
- Security controls for air cargo
- Warehouse acceptance & dispatch of air cargo
- Prohibited articles
- Methods of concealment
Successful candidates will be issued with a certificate recognised by the DfT which is valid for a period of two years.
ELIGIBILITY – any person undergoing initial or recurrent training in accordance with the DfT syllabus must have successfully completed their background/pre-employment checks and Disclosure and Barring Service Checks, as appropriate, before undergoing this training. It is the responsibility of the employer to ensure that the background/pre-employment check and Disclosure and Barring Service Check has been completed for each trainee and that the trainee has a job, or has been assigned a job, with an aviation security responsibility, prior to undertaking any training. By submitting a member of staff for this course you are acknowledging, and confirming adherence to, the above eligibility statement. Furthermore, a signed disclosure statement will be required.
Note: This level of training should only be delivered where it is relevant to the person’s aviation security responsibilities. People who have not been recruited in accordance with Chapter 11 of EU 1998/2015 must not see or hear this information.
