Cargo Aviation Security Principles Driver (CASPD) is the most basic level of air cargo security training and replaces the previous Level A – General Awareness and Level B – Drivers courses. CASPD allows access to the warehouse where secure cargo may be stored but does not allow the individual to handle such cargo (e.g. pick or label). Personnel who will be handling secure cargo must attend the Cargo Operative (CO) course as a minimum.

CASPD covers the following modules (as appropriate):

  1. The threat to aviation
  2. Aviation Security – Organisation and legislation
  3. Protecting air cargo – warehouse
  4. Protecting air cargo – drivers
  5. Protecting & searching aircraftNOT DELIVERED BY BIFA
  6. Reacting to and reporting of suspicious circumstances & security incidents

Successful candidates will be issued with a certificate recognised by the DfT which is valid for a period of two years.

Any person undergoing initial or recurrent training in accordance with the DfT syllabus must have successfully completed their background/pre-employment checks and Disclosure and Barring Service Checks, as appropriate, before undergoing this training. It is the responsibility of the employer to ensure that the background/pre-employment check and Disclosure and Barring Service Check has been completed for each trainee and that the trainee has a job, or has been assigned a job, with an aviation security responsibility, prior to undertaking any training. By submitting a member of staff for this course you are acknowledging, and confirming adherence to, the above eligibility statement. Furthermore, a signed disclosure statement will be required.
