BIFA has seen messages from international carriers including IAG advising that Australia has introduced stricter aviation security controls in line with those being implemented in Canada and USA. The wording of part of IAG’s announcement is below:
“New requirements have been issued for cargo shipments on passenger carriers travelling to or through Australia, Canada and the United States and originating in one of the 55 countries designated by these Governments. These requirements mandate that cargo may only be tendered from shippers with whom the forwarder has an Established Business Relationship (EBR).
Carriers are taking similar but not always identical approaches to implementing these regulations, for Australia to comply with this requirement, from 26 September 2024, IAG for instance are stating that parties tendering cargo for passenger flights must confirm they have verified that all shipments are from shippers that meet the EBR criteria which is covered in other news items on the BIFA website. “
The instruction is clear without confirmation that the shipment complies with the new regulations it will not be shipped.
