Deployment of Operation Brock for Shorts Straits Traffic

We have received the below message from the Department for Transport regarding the deployment of Operation Brock.

Ahead of the Christmas getaway, I is anticipated that high volumes of tourists will travel via Eurotunnel and Port of Dover from this weekend, beginning on Friday 20th.

In particular, it is expected that Kent roads will be very busy throughout the weekend of 20-22 December with high demand expected until Tuesday 24 December afternoon. To prepare for this, Operation Brock was deployed over the weekend, Sunday 15th December.

BIFA has been requested to share the following update with Members.

  • If Operation Brock and Dover TAP is in operation, Police and DVSA enforcement teams will be operating across Kent to ensure compliance.
  • HGVs travelling to Port of Dover will require a permit to access the Port. Permits will be issued at the front of the Operation Brock queue.
  • Please check the information provided by Eurotunnel and Port of Dover before you travel, and ensure you have supplies of food and water, particularly in cold weather.
