BIFA’s attention has been drawn to an issue concerning import duties and quotas for imports of Iron and Steel.
The imposition of such duties etc seem to be complex and Members have expressed concerns regarding both the timing and how these taxes are imposed – from what we have been advised after clearance.
BIFA is aware that HMRC, as previously stated, are trying to collect duties on goods which at the time of importation appeared to have quota remaining or duty free entry into the UK.
