BIFA Member Event – BIFA STC: An overview and practical application

Dear BIFA Member,

One of the core services of BIFA Membership is the provision of well-established and respected BIFA Standard Trading Conditions (STC).

The Association receives many enquiries about the STC including how to incorporate the STC into all contracts with customers, which is one of the main strands of this seminar.  Ensuring incorporation is properly conducted and evidenced is one of the main means for Members to protect their business from claims, should problems occur.  Members must bear in mind that if the STC are not incorporated that the Member cannot benefit from their protection.

The other main element of the seminar will be an examination of the most important clauses within the STC which Members need to fully understand to manage the forwarding contracts between themselves, the customer and other parties.  Many do not appreciate the complexities of moving cargo across the globe and the STC have created contractual arrangements which are seen as being fair and balanced.  It is noteworthy that in many Common Law nations similar trading conditions have been adopted.
