Short Straits half-term disruption – preparedness messaging

BIFA has received the following message from the Department of Transport which we have been requested to forward to its members.

The Department just wanted to get in touch to share the below preparedness messaging with you, as it is anticipated to be a very busy half-term period at both Eurotunnel and Port of Dover this weekend (24th to 26th) and next (31st to 2nd June).

  • Travellers are encouraged to make sure they are prepared for any potential delays, such as having access to snacks, water, and any essential medication. Passengers should have all their documents open on ID pages when arriving at border controls.
  • Coaches arriving at Port of Dover more than three hours before their departure time will not be permitted entry. All coaches must use the designated Coach Processing Facility in Dover’s Western Docks from 06:00 hours on Friday 24th May, until 17:30 hours on Saturday 25th May, and on Friday 31st May 07:00 – 15:00.
  • On Saturday 1st June, the Champions League final is being played between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid at Wembley Stadium. This will see an increase of vehicles crossing the Short Straits, and all travellers are being encouraged to make sure they follow instructions they receive or encounter on their journeys and come prepared for any potential delays.
